With full safety protocols and social distancing, women players head to Amanali Golf & Náutica to return to the course for this tournament organized by Mariana Hughes.

TEPEJI DEL RÍO — Practicing golf, breathing fresh air and enjoying camaraderie on the green was, for most participants of the second edition of the Ladies Open, a blessing after the lockdown.

"We're happy this happened — we've gone all year without tournaments and those of us who play a lot really missed it. Plus this is a fantastic course, very different and challenging," shared amateur golfer Ampi Díaz.

96 women competed in three-player teams across 18 holes at Club de Golf Amanali under A-Go-Go format.

"Player reaction was very positive — there were some nerves, but not many, because we kept all safety protocols front and center," noted Mariana Hughes, CEO of Hughes Events.

Mariana Hughes and Kikin Fonseca led the awards ceremony.

1st place: Ana Gloria Flores, Ana Cecilia and Paulina Rebollar at 65 points; 2nd place: Maru Hughes, Mayte Bada and Alexa Saldaña — also at 65; 3rd place: Ampi Díaz, Mariana Podoski and Azul del Villar at 66 points.

Hole 18 hosted the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation. Beyond supporting the foundation, the tournament also helped caddies who had been hit hard by the pandemic.
